Everything about Mir Sadiq totally explained
Mir Sadiq popularly known as the "Traitor" held the post of a minister in the cabinet of
Tipu Sultan of
Mysore. In the
Fourth Anglo-Mysore War he betrayed his own people and sided with the
British, paving the way for a
British victory in
India.
The British had attacked and besieged the capital
Srirangapattinam in 1799. Mir Sadiq sent the
army to collect wages at the height of the battle, thus giving the British a chance to enter through the hole made through bombardment of the fort wall. It is also known that he spread water in the basement where the
ammunition was stored, making the
ammunition unusable.
